What is the Add Watermark to Image?

Add Watermark to Image draws your own text on a photo, with corner, centre or repeated diagonal placement. Adjust opacity, colour and text size in the preview, then download a PNG or JPG at the source image dimensions.

Supported formats

  • Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP; up to 20 MB and 16 megapixels
  • Output: PNG with transparency or JPG with a white background
  • Text watermarks only; exported pixel dimensions match the original

Privacy and processing

The source image and watermark text stay on your device. The browser creates a new PNG or JPG; it does not upload your photo or overwrite the original. Optional analytics sends fixed tool-action labels only.

How to use Add Watermark to Image

  1. 1Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo, or try a sample. Keep your original file; the tool downloads a separate copy.
  2. 2Enter your watermark text, then choose a corner, the centre or the repeated diagonal pattern.
  3. 3Adjust colour, opacity and text size while watching the live preview. Long text is fitted inside the image.
  4. 4Download PNG to keep transparency, or JPG for a white background. The exported image keeps the source pixel dimensions.

About Add Watermark to Image

This tool adds a visible text watermark to a photo or screenshot. Use a corner for a small credit, centre placement for a draft label, or a repeated diagonal pattern for a preview that needs a more prominent mark. Text size is based on the shorter image dimension, so the mark scales with the source image; exceptionally long text is reduced to fit. Opacity controls how strongly the mark covers the picture. PNG keeps transparent areas, while JPG places transparent areas on white and uses lossy compression. Both downloads preserve the source width and height. A watermark is a visible label, not copy protection: it may be cropped, edited or removed, so retain the original and choose what you share carefully. This tool adds text; it does not remove someone else's watermark or add an invisible authenticity credential. To prepare the output for a platform, use the social media image size checker, then resize the photo or compress the image. To extract printed words from a screenshot instead of adding text, use Image to Text OCR.

Add your name, shop label or a DRAFT mark to a photo. Choose corner, centre or repeated diagonal placement, adjust text size and opacity, and download a PNG or JPG copy. Your photo and watermark text stay in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a watermark to a photo?
Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image, enter text and select a position. Adjust opacity, colour and size in the preview, then download a new PNG or JPG copy.
Will the watermark download resize my photo?
No. The preview is scaled to fit the page, but the downloaded image keeps the original pixel width and height. JPG uses lossy compression and flattens transparency on white; PNG keeps transparency.
Can I put a repeated watermark across an image?
Yes. Choose Repeated diagonal in the Position control to place the text across the picture. Adjust text size and opacity to change how prominent the pattern is.
Does this watermark tool support logos or remove existing watermarks?
It adds a text watermark only. It does not add logo images, remove existing watermarks or guarantee that your visible mark cannot be edited or cropped out.
