About UBL Invoice Viewer

UBL (Universal Business Language) is the OASIS XML standard that most Peppol e-invoices use. A UBL invoice is a tree of cbc (basic) and cac (aggregate) elements: the root Invoice holds the invoice number, dates and currency, the supplier and customer parties, payment means, a TaxTotal and LegalMonetaryTotal, and one InvoiceLine per item. The ToolsWebPro UBL Invoice Viewer reads UBL 2.1 Invoice and CreditNote documents in your browser and shows them as a normal invoice, with the raw XML one click away. For a field-by-field explanation of the XML, read how to read UBL invoice XML. To check the file for common mistakes, use the PEPPOL Invoice Validator.

Open UBL 2.1 invoices and credit notes in your browser and see them as a normal invoice: supplier, customer, dates, lines, VAT and totals. Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 and XRechnung UBL files are recognised, wrapped SBDH files open too, and the raw XML is one click away.

ToolsWebPro provides this tool free with no account required. Each tool explains its supported formats, processing limits and privacy behavior.

Frequently asked questions

How do I read a UBL invoice XML?
Drop the file into the UBL Invoice Viewer. It shows the supplier, customer, dates, lines, VAT and totals as a normal invoice. To understand the tags themselves, the guide on reading UBL invoice XML explains each important element.
Which UBL documents are supported?
UBL 2.1 Invoice and CreditNote, including Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 files. Other UBL documents, such as Order, Despatch Advice or Application Response, are not invoices and are not rendered.
Is every UBL invoice a Peppol invoice?
No. Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 is one profile of UBL with extra rules, identified by its CustomizationID. A UBL invoice can follow other profiles, such as national CIUS. The viewer reads them all as UBL.
My file starts with StandardBusinessDocument. Can I open it?
Usually yes. Some systems wrap the invoice in an SBDH envelope. The viewer looks one level inside the root element and opens the Invoice it finds there.
Can I edit a UBL invoice here?
No, the viewer is read-only. You can copy or download the XML, but changes to an invoice should be made in the system that issued it, usually with a credit note and a new invoice.
