What is the AI Image Enhancer?
The free AI Image Enhancer enlarges small photos and illustrations by 2× or 4× using Real-ESRGAN in your browser. Compare the result with an on-image slider and download the full PNG without an account. Images stay on your device; AI estimates detail and may change textures or lettering.
Privacy and processing
Image pixels are processed in a worker on your device. The website serves the AI model and runtime as static downloads, and does not receive your photo for enhancement. This tool does not save image history or send image contents to analytics. Download the result before closing the page.
How to use AI Image Enhancer
- 1Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB and 16 megapixels, or try the sample. Larger dimensions are resized automatically on your device; your original file is unchanged.
- 2Select 2× for a moderate enlargement or 4× for the largest supported output. These sizes use the prepared image, so check the exact output dimensions before starting.
- 3Press Enhance image. On first use, allow the AI files to download. Keep the tab open and watch the section progress, or cancel to stop.
- 4Drag the comparison slider directly over the image. Open the full-size result to check faces, edges and lettering, then download the free PNG.
What you can do
Neural super-resolution
A compact Real-ESRGAN model enhances RGB detail rather than only stretching pixels.
Private on-device processing
Your image stays in this browser while a background worker processes sections of it.
On-image comparison
Switch between original, enhanced and a keyboard-accessible before-and-after slider.
Free full-resolution export
Download the selected 2× or 4× result as PNG, including scaled transparency.
When this tool helps
Small product photos
Enlarge a photo you own for a larger layout and inspect texture accuracy.
Illustrations and graphics
Smooth some compression and stair-step edges while checking small text and line details.
Older low-resolution photos
Try an enlargement on a copy and keep the original for comparison.
About AI Image Enhancer
An image enhancer uses a learned model to estimate a larger, cleaner version of a small image. This tool uses the compact Real-ESRGAN general x4v3 network with a balanced denoising setting. It processes overlapping sections so larger images do not need one enormous inference buffer, then joins their central regions into a single output. At 4×, each source dimension is multiplied by four; at 2×, the model's 4× result is reduced to the requested dimensions. A 400 × 300 image therefore becomes 800 × 600 or 1600 × 1200. More pixels do not prove more accurate detail: fine fabric, faces and lettering can change, and strong blur or severe compression may remain. Compare the original and enhanced image at full size before using it. The tool is intended for small photos and illustrations, rather than forensic recovery, medical interpretation or text transcription. Uploads can be up to 16 megapixels; larger dimensions are automatically resized to a working copy of at most 1 megapixel, keeping output at no more than 16 megapixels. The preview labels prepared images and shows their dimensions. The 2× and 4× multipliers apply to that working copy, so they do not guarantee an enlargement relative to a large original upload. Graphics acceleration is used where available, with a CPU fallback; speed varies substantially across phones and computers. The site hosts the static model and runtime, so the first use needs a network connection. Your image itself stays local. For exact sizing without neural changes use the photo resizer; after enhancement use the image compressor if you need a smaller delivery file. The model is distributed under the Real-ESRGAN BSD license.
Use Real-ESRGAN super-resolution in your browser to enlarge small photos and illustrations. Your image stays on your device, with no account, processing server or download subscription. Choose 2× or 4× output, compare the result on the image, and save a PNG with transparency. Quality and speed depend on the source and your device; AI estimates details rather than recovering a lost original.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the enhanced image free to download?
- Yes. The PNG download includes the full selected output resolution, without a signup, subscription or added watermark. Larger images are automatically resized to a working copy of up to 1 megapixel and 4096 pixels per side. The 2× and 4× options enlarge that working copy; the output dimensions are shown before you start.
- Is this real AI enhancement or ordinary resizing?
- It runs the compact Real-ESRGAN general x4v3 super-resolution model in your browser. The model predicts a 4× image; the 2× option then reduces that output to a smaller file size. This differs from simply enlarging pixels, but it may also change fine textures and introduce plausible-looking details.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. Your browser downloads the AI model and runtime from this website, then processes the image in a background worker on your device. Image pixels are not sent to an enhancement server. Keep the tab open; the result disappears from the page when you close it unless you download it.
- Why does the first enhancement take longer?
- The first run needs roughly 19–32 MB of model and runtime files and time to prepare them. Supported browsers can use graphics acceleration; others use the CPU. Large images can take several minutes on a slow device. Cancel at any time, or try a smaller image first.
- Can it restore every blurry face or read unreadable text?
- No. It estimates detail and cannot recover information absent from the source. Heavy motion blur, tiny faces and damaged text can produce inaccurate results. It does not include a dedicated face-restoration model. Do not use invented details as evidence or as a reliable transcription.
- Which files and sizes are supported?
- Choose one still JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB and 16 megapixels. File size and pixel count are different: even a file under 1 MB can have large dimensions. The tool automatically fits larger images to a working copy of up to 1 megapixel and 4096 pixels per side, keeping the aspect ratio. Smaller images keep their dimensions. A 500 × 500 source becomes 1000 × 1000 at 2× or 2000 × 2000 at 4×. The preview identifies resized copies and shows the exact output size. Downloads use PNG; transparency is scaled separately from RGB enhancement. Animation, RAW and batch processing are not supported.
