Peppol Invoice Viewer

Open supported structured invoice XML, inspect the seller, buyer, line items and totals, then export a readable copy or spreadsheet.

100% Client-Side Privacy: No Server Uploads

Invoice parsing and the displayed checks run in your browser without uploading invoice contents. These checks do not establish official Peppol or XRechnung conformance. Site analytics and asset requests are separate from document processing.

What is the Peppol Invoice Viewer?

The ToolsWebPro PEPPOL Invoice Viewer is a free online tool that reads PEPPOL BIS Billing 3.0 XML e-invoices and shows them as a normal, human-readable invoice. Drop a .xml file (or paste the XML) to see the seller, buyer, VAT IDs, line items, VAT breakdown, totals and bank details, with key EN 16931 rule checks flagged. It also opens XRechnung (UBL or CII) and the XML inside ZUGFeRD / Factur-X PDFs, switches labels between English, German, Dutch and French, and saves a PDF copy. Export one or several readable invoices to Excel with separate summary and line-item sheets, or download each sheet as CSV. Parsing and exports happen in your browser, so the invoice is never uploaded.

Supported formats

  • PEPPOL BIS Billing 3.0 (UBL 2.1 Invoice and CreditNote)
  • UBL 2.1 Invoice / CreditNote XML
  • XRechnung 3.0 in UBL or UN/CEFACT CII (CrossIndustryInvoice) syntax
  • ZUGFeRD 2.x and Factur-X: CII XML files, or hybrid PDF/A-3 invoices with the XML embedded
  • Input: .xml files, pasted XML, or .pdf (several files at once)
  • Output: readable invoice view (EN, DE, NL, FR), raw XML view, print / save as PDF, Excel workbook or summary / line-item CSV

Output and limitations

Open the structured invoice, not a scan

Choose a supported XML invoice or a supported hybrid PDF containing invoice XML. A scanned PDF alone does not contain structured line items for this reader. If the invoice fails to load, keep the original error and ask the sender which format and profile their system exported.

Inspect fields and export the needed view

Review the seller, buyer, invoice references, lines, taxes and totals against the original. Export a summary or line-item spreadsheet for your own analysis. A spreadsheet export is not an instruction to post entries to accounting software or change the legal invoice.

Keep the XML and understand the checks

Print or save a human-readable PDF when you need a reading copy, and retain the original structured document. The visible checks cover selected fields and arithmetic. They do not apply full schema and Schematron validation or guarantee acceptance by an access point or recipient.

Privacy and processing

100% Client-Side Architecture: Your invoice files, vendor details, and accounting figures are parsed strictly in your browser using local JavaScript and WebAssembly. No files are uploaded to ToolsWebPro or any third-party server.

How to use Peppol Invoice Viewer

  1. 1Drop your XML file (.xml) or hybrid e-invoice PDF (ZUGFeRD or Factur-X) into the upload area, or paste raw XML directly.
  2. 2The parser automatically identifies the e-invoice specification: Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, UBL 2.1, XRechnung (CII or UBL), or ZUGFeRD.
  3. 3Inspect the rendered invoice view, audit compliance warnings (such as Leitweg-ID, VAT IDs, or line math checks), and toggle between EN, DE, NL, and FR languages.
  4. 4Click 'Print / Save to PDF' to create a clean, print-ready A4 PDF document, or view the syntax-highlighted raw XML tree.

When this tool helps

Belgian & European Freelancers (2026 Mandate)

Belgian B2B e-invoicing is mandatory via Peppol from 1 January 2026. Freelancers and SMEs receiving raw XML files can instantly inspect line items and payment terms.

German Public Sector Suppliers (XRechnung)

Verify that your XRechnung XML invoice has a valid Leitweg-ID (Buyer Reference) and correct 19% MwSt. math before submitting to federal or state government portals.

Accounting & Bookkeeping Verification

Cross-check received ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF invoices to verify that the visual text matches the machine-readable XML embedded within the PDF.

About Peppol Invoice Viewer

ToolsWebPro Peppol Invoice Viewer is a free browser-based utility designed to open, inspect, and validate European electronic invoices formatted according to the EU EN 16931 standard. It provides native support for Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 (UBL 2.1), German XRechnung (both UN/CEFACT CII and UBL), and hybrid PDF/A-3 standards such as ZUGFeRD and Factur-X. As mandatory B2B e-invoicing takes effect across Europe — including Belgium's nationwide mandate starting 1 January 2026 and Germany's B2B reception mandate — small business owners and freelancers frequently receive machine-readable XML files without human-readable visual layouts. This tool parses the structured data, validates key compliance rules, presents a professional invoice layout in four European languages, and enables instant PDF printing without sending sensitive financial documents to external servers. If you need to create a visual PDF invoice from scratch, use our Free Invoice Generator. Frequently asked questions

Does viewing a Peppol invoice prove it is valid?
No. Rendering a file and running selected checks do not establish full Peppol or EN16931 compliance. Use the validator required by your actual sending or receiving workflow, and keep its rule-set version and report with the original invoice.
Can I export invoice lines to Excel?
The viewer supports summary and line-item spreadsheet exports for readable invoices, including XLSX and CSV paths. Inspect totals, dates, identifiers and currency in the result before using it. An export does not automatically reconcile or post accounting entries.
Why will a normal PDF invoice not open as structured data?
A normal or scanned PDF may contain only a visual document. This reader needs supported XML or embedded invoice XML from a supported hybrid PDF. Ask the sender for the original structured file when the PDF contains no extractable invoice XML.
